How Storage works for Study Abroad services?
Study Abroad storage follows the same basic process as Summer storage, with a few added flexibilities for longer time away.
Students:
- Register for the Study Abroad storage service.
- Optionally schedule delivery of a supply kit from within the account.
- Select a pickup date.
- If the date is one of the normal included pickup dates, it is covered at no extra cost.
- If the date falls outside normal pickup dates, additional costs apply based on the date selected.
If return plans are uncertain, the “Skip For Now” option may be selected after registration to return to the main account page and decide on dates later.
Before the service date:
- 24–48 hours prior to the selected pickup and/or delivery dates, a text is sent to the primary contact number listed in the account with a 3-hour estimated time window.
Extensions and return:
- Storage extensions can be set up directly from the Your Inventory section in the online account.
- Extensions may be set as:
- Month-to-month, or
- 4-month recurring cycles (or 3 months for boarding/prep schools).
- The system sends periodic check-in emails to help ensure return arrangements are made in time for a smooth delivery.
- Once return plans are confirmed, delivery can be scheduled directly in the account:
- Delivery on normal included dates is covered at no extra cost.
- Delivery outside normal included dates may require additional fees.
- If not returning to campus, boxes can be shipped anywhere UPS services through a ship-out request.
How Pricing works for Study Abroad storage.
- Study Abroad storage uses flexible recurring billing, automatically charged to the card on file.
Billing cycles:
- Flexible recurring cycles can be set directly in the account as:
- Month-to-month, or
- 4-month “semester” cycles (or 3-month cycles for boarding/prep schools).
Initial payment and recurring charges:
- After pickup is completed, the initial payment amount is visible in the online account.
- A 3-day grace period is provided for reviewing inventory for accuracy.
- After 3 days, the initial storage payment is charged to the card on file.
- For monthly cycles, the card is charged 30 days after the initial pickup date, then every 30 days until retrieval is arranged.
- For 4-month cycles, the card is charged 120 days after the initial pickup date, then every 120 days until retrieval is arranged.
Storage pricing:
- Storage is billed per inventoried box or item at the start of each billing cycle.
- A current pricing guide is available directly from within the online account.
How Dates work For Study Abroad storage
- Study Abroad storage dates are designed around each school’s calendar but allow additional flexibility when needed.
Included dates:
- Included pickup and delivery dates are aligned with the school’s normal move-in and move-out schedule.
- These dates are shown in the account calendar and do not carry additional service charges beyond standard pricing.
Special or On-Demand dates:
- When a pickup or delivery is needed outside the normal move-in/out schedule, extra costs may apply.
- The cost depends on which date is submitted for approval.
- Lower-priced dates generally have a better chance of being approved by the local team.
- All special dates must be approved by the local partner team before they are confirmed.
Service limitations and coverage:
- At most schools, services are not provided on weekends.
- Off-campus locations are serviced within roughly a 10-minute radius of the school.
- Any additional costs for non-standard dates can be viewed directly within the online account before finalizing the request.
When will I be billed for my Study Abroad storage service?
Initial payment
- Once pickup is completed and items are processed, the initial payment amount is displayed in the online account.
- A 3-day grace period is provided so inventory can be reviewed for accuracy.
- After 3 days, the initial storage payment is automatically charged to the card on file.
Recurring billing cycles
Study Abroad storage uses flexible recurring billing based on the chosen cycle:
Monthly billing cycle
- The card on file is charged 30 days after the initial pickup date.
- Charges then continue every 30 days until retrieval is arranged and completed.
4-month billing cycle
- The card on file is charged 120 days after the initial pickup date.
- Charges then continue every 120 days until retrieval is arranged and completed.
Billing is based on the number of inventoried boxes and items stored at the start of each billing cycle.
