How storage pricing is calculated
Storage pricing is based on the number of inventoried boxes and non-boxed items picked up for storage.
- The initial storage period is 4 months (or 3 months for boarding schools) starting from the pickup date.
- Storage charges are billed 3 days after pickup to the card used at registration.
- Card details should be updated before that time if any changes are needed.
Extended storage is available for as long as needed.
- Recurring billing cycles may be monthly or in 4-month segments.
For boarding schools, extended storage uses 3-month cycles.
Billing options
Two billing approaches are available for the initial storage period:
Pay upfront and save
- Full storage cost for the initial 4 months (or 3 months for boarding schools) is paid in advance.
- A 10% discount applies to the entire storage cost for the initial period.
Installment billing
- 4 monthly installments at the list price for the initial 4-month period.
- 3 monthly installments at the list price for boarding schools.
- Final payment is due 2 weeks before the delivery date.
If a delivery request is submitted within 2 weeks of the requested date, any remaining balances or installments are billed at the time the delivery request is submitted.
Average storage costs and tips
Typical storage use:
- The average order size is around 7 items.
- Most customers store 3–5 boxes and 1–2 non-boxed items (for example, a mini-fridge or television).
- For this average order size, total storage cost usually ranges from $550–$700 for the initial period.
The actual cost varies based on what is picked up for storage, so the final bill is directly affected by how many items are sent.
Discarding low-value items such as brooms, small mirrors, or damaged items before movers arrive can help reduce the overall storage cost.
